SCAU
Rugby Club

Kowloon Sports Club was founded by a group of local sports professionals to promote various sports engagements in 2003. It aims to foster the community to have a balanced and positive lifestyle commitment

The Kowloon Sports Club goals are to:

  • Enhance the local sports development

  • Encourage the public (including all age groups) to take part in sports proactively

  • Organize various sports events to promote a healthy lifestyle

  • Host sports events by cooperating with various organizations

  • Influence the youth to have a balanced and positive life

SCAU Rugby Club

In 1992, Rugby was introduced to South China Agricultural University (SCAU) by Hong Kong Rugby Football Union. In that year, South China Agricultural University became the second university in China to have a rugby team. In October, 1993, SCAU established the first female rugby team among universities in China. In 2003, SCAU Rugby Club was formed by a group of rugby players who has graduated from SCAU. The club has been making efforts to develop rugby in the local region and communicate with clubs from other regions. SCAU Rugby Club aims to be the best rugby club in this nation.

III Main Achievements of the Club in Touch Rugby

With the purpose of developing rugby, the club has the following achievements:

April, 2003: The club held the first touch rugby tournament in South China Agricultural University, which was the first tournament organized by Chinese in China mainland, attracting 12 teams from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

September, 2003: The club founded Rugby Association in SCAU to promote the development of touch rugby. The association has about 200 members every year.

May, 2007: With the promotion of the club, SCAU held the first touch rugby tournament among colleges.

December, 2012: The club founded City 3 Touch Rugby Series in order to multiply the impact of touch rugby. And the match ended perfectly on December 1st, in the first tournament in Guangzhou with 16 teams from 5 cities.

April, 2015, players from SCAU Rugby represented China to participate in the 2015 Touch World Cup in Australia, winning 20th place of the world.
